	Forsythia Intermedia. 'Goldzauber' Ref: FOfor02 This tough and thick shrub produces masses of bright yellow flowers in the early spring. The flowers appear late April to early May and, on closer inspection, reveal that they are orange in the throat. This is a hardy shrub, which can either be trimmed as a formal hedge or left slightly informal. It will tolerate exposed situations, and semi-shade, growing to around 2m in height. It grows by about 45cm each year so needs a trim to keep it looking tidy. Just cut back branches that have flowered soon after flowering and again in August and remove some of the old branches right down to the ground to encourage new growth and a compact shape. 	Japanese Laurel (Aucuba Japonica) Ref: Fojap01 A versatile evergreen shrub for almost anywhere in the garden. Ideal for keeping in a pot on a patio or terrace, or planting to form part of a boundary hedge. Slow-growing, it will only reach 1.8m (6ft) after ten years if left unpruned.
